C.H. Warren illustration of the burning of the Yazoo Act, ca. 1914.

This collection consists of C.H. Warren's illustration, Burning of the Yazoo Act." The illustrator used a combination of mediums, including pencil, ink, and inkwash. This conjectural drawing was created to illustrate textbooks such as A History of Georgia by Lawton B. Evans. It was copyrighted by the University Publishing Company. The illustration is matted and framed. Attached to the mat are two clippings containing additional information. The first clipping identifies the key men in the drawing. The second clipping states the item is an original, copyrighted drawing and that it was presented to the Georgia Historical Society by Lawton B. Evans. This clipping titles the drawing, "The Burning of the Yazoo Act, February 1797;" the correct year is 1796.
